I found <a href="http://railscasts.com/" rel="nofollow">Railcasts</a> and <a href="http://www.pragprog.com/titles/rails2/agile-web-development-with-rails" rel="nofollow">Agile Web Development with Rails</a> hugely invaluable! Other than using BASIC on Apple IIEs in high school, I have no programming experience either.
